Are solo ads effective?
Solo ads are also only effective as the list you use, your subject line, your content, and your follow up.
Some people might tell you that solo ads have a somewhat sketchy reputation. I’m here to tell you that this reputation all comes down to how you use solo ads and whose list you are using. You can generate leads and grow your business with solo ads – but just be wise about how you use them.
Many large, “mainstream” companies don’t use solo ads. But, those same companies are well-established and have very large lists of their own. They don’t have to worry about building a list or squeezing out every cent of their marketing dollars. You do.
Most likely, if you are considering using solo ads, you are just starting out, a small business, or an affiliate marketer. In this case, don’t be afraid to use solo ads.
Just as with any investment you make, don’t count your chickens before they hatch. If you can’t afford to lose the money, don’t spend it. Determine your budget and stick with it. If you can’t afford solo ads quite yet, keep moving – remember – slow and steady wins the race. You’ll get there!
Your first go-round with a solo ad may not prove successful. One unsuccessful campaign shouldn’t break the bank. If a solo ad will break the bank, don’t do it. Going for solo ads when you shouldn’t means you’ll be making decisions out of desperation instead of providing quality content to your potential customers.
I also want you to know that one unsuccessful solo ad campaign shouldn’t discourage you from trying again. Look at the list you used, look at your subject line, look at the content. Make modifications and try again.
When you start looking at potential lists to use, don’t rely only on the word of the list owner. Check around. See if people are talking about the list owner on forums, ask others what their experience was like.
Another way to protect yourself is to make sure people are clicking on your links within the email. An easy way to do this is by using bit.ly. Bit.ly is free, it shortens your links, and with a free account, you can see basic analytics about the number of people using your link. Provide the bit.ly link to the list owner instead of the regular link.
