Can I Quickly Increase My Website Traffic?
The answer to your question is yes – the real question is, is it wise to make the investment?
Eighty years ago, small businesses that wanted to increase traffic to their stores had a few options. They could create new signage, they could advertise in the newspaper or on the radio, or they could be in the right place where people were already walking by who wanted the goods that they were selling.
If they wanted to quickly increase traffic to their business, it meant using those same methods, but investing more resources (more money or more time or both) into promoting themselves. If it was a store, they could promote a sale on merchandise or services in hopes of increasing return customers. Chances are, they would sell their sale items at a loss and very few deal-seekers would return. They may have seen different results if they were a business with strong brand recognition.
Fast forward to today, and while things are a lot more complicated, they are still the same. There are still people who want to spend money, but not in physical locations. Today, they are spending money online. So, how do you wisely increase your website traffic?
Below are some tips and tricks to do just that. For each of these tricks, you can dump resources to see a quick increase in traffic to your site, but I want to advise that you build slowly. Slow and steady really does win the race over the long run. It will help you develop a business that will be sustained over the long-haul.
Spending thousands on promotion (especially when you don’t have it), may gain you a lot of visitors in a short-period of time, but what you want are loyal customers who return again, and again, and again and who also encourage their friends to do the same. Steady increases will be sustainable and remain steady over time.
Tips to Increase Your Website Traffic
- Have a great product to sell.
If your product is out-of-date or useless, then it isn’t going to sell well, even if it is at the top of everyone’s search bar. A bad product is not going to draw people to your site. Find your niche, listen to your customers and the community you’ve developed. How can you help them and meet their needs?
When you take into account the people you want to help, you’ll become recognized within your niche!
- Regularly create new content.
Think about signs you drive that catch your eye? Why do they catch your eye? They are clever! You notice them because they’re different, applicable, and occasionally funny. And what about that business that changes its messages regularly? Aren’t you excited to see what’s new?
Algorithms used by Google, Bing, Yahoo, and others tend to center around new content. Make sure to take time weekly to update yours, even if it is to write a review, give a new product description, or change the color scheme of the page.
- Use action words.
What are action words? Let me refresh you. Don’t just say, “Brian goes to the store,” but instead say, “Brian runs to the store,” or “Brian takes a hop, skip, and a jump to the store.” Action keeps people engaged and catches their interest.
- Advertise on Search Engines.
This is an option where you can invest money – if it makes sense. Depending on how you advertise (Google AdSense, Facebook Advertising, Twitter Advertising, Ads on YouTube, or Solo Ads), you can pay minimal amounts of money, target your ads, and see solid results.
- Use social media to your advantage.
Make sure you are promoting your website/business across social media. And on those social media channels, don’t forget to link to your site, not just once, but often!
